Several expressed appreciation for embracing the learning and growth that unfolded throughout the year, feeling equipped with both the opportunities and resources essential for their success in the senior living industry.
What New Skills Were Acquired in 2023?
When looking at the success and achievement of 2023, a trend throughout the discussions centered on the significance of feedback. The teams wholeheartedly embraced feedback and attentive listening, translating these insights into actionable strategies aimed at enhancing the lives and preferences of their residents consistently throughout the year.
Residents also employed listening to get to know their neighbors and Tutera Senior Living team members. Some residents noted how many new connections they get to make in the community and how fun it is to learn new and interesting things about the people around them. These opportunities to socialize are immense strides for learning and growth for both residents and team members.
What Were Tutera Senior Living’s Greatest Achievements in 2023?
Between residents and team members offering their ideas for areas of growth and development, the consensus was clear: Tutera Senior Living management has invested in their communities through renovations and upgrades. From adding apartments to rearranging the community to a more thoughtfully crafted senior living design, this was a great part of the 2023 year.

What Have I Learned in 2023?
Looking back at 2023, an Executive Director said: “It felt like a good transition for more opportunity and growth. In 2024, I can look forward to the new year by using the experiences from 2023 to grow personally and professionally.”
Kim at St. Paul’s Senior Community agreed that change was necessary in 2023 for growth and commented, “I remembered to give myself grace and practice self-care. At the community, we’re looking to cultivate a support system and learn that unexpected setbacks are truly opportunities for growth.”
The Tutera Senior Living teams reflected on 2023 and look forward to collectively cultivating kind and diverse communities and considering how it impacts success and achievement in the neighborhoods.
Lisa Cascio, Independent Living Life Enrichment Director, shares her favorite time when residents really start to experience senior living: “I love watching residents make new friends and reconnect with old friends.” Lisa says, “I love when they begin to feel comfortable joining activities, having meals with their fellow residents and becoming part of our wonderful community.”
Suzanne Townsend, Memory Care Life Enrichment Coordinator, shares her love of her community’s supportive work environment and had this to say about working for Tutera Senior Living: “I feel very blessed to come to work here every day. One of the new things we have embraced over the last year is getting the memory care residents out of the community on the bus. These outings have been such a joyful experience for our residents and a pleasant change of scenery.”
What Plans Do You Have for 2024?
What are some things to look forward to in 2024 for Tutera Senior Living? We asked the team again to look forward and tell us what they were looking forward to in the new year.
A resident named Sue is setting her growth goal in 2024, and not surprisingly, like most people, she’s looking ahead to her health: “I am hoping to remain in good health in 2024. That way, I’ll be happy, and I will be able to do everything I want to do.” Sue’s thoughts echo the way that our residents live their lives in our communities: full of possibilities and living the carefree retirement lifestyle they have looked forward to all their lives.
The Tutera Senior Living team and residents talked a lot about learning and growth throughout 2023, and they hoped to continue to grow and succeed in 2024. “You can’t hide in your comfort zone,” one team member said, “so I am looking forward to working on that in 2024.”
Residents at Tutera communities are looking to experience senior living in new ways. Kindness was another theme among residents and team members in 2024: helping people who are in need and spending time with other residents and team members, generating a culture of kindness within the community.
